PROGRAM

PROGRAM

Three separate Buzz2010 meetings
The Buzz2010 program is actually three separate breakfast meetings over the course of the summer. You can choose to go to one or two of them, but your best bet is to plan for all of them–then spend the month working through your takeaways before coming back and re-focusing at the next meeting. All the sessions are being recorded, too, in case you missed one.

More about the format
Each Buzz2010 meeting will unfold something like this:

8:00 - 8:30am Doors open, registration, continental breakfast
8:30 - 9:30am Speaker presentation
9:30 - 10:15am Group discussion and dialogue with speaker

What you’ll learn
Each speaker brings a wealth of experience working through social media challenges in a business setting. At Buzz2010, we’ll refocus those insights for the unique questions that you face as association and non-profit leaders.

Charlene Li, author of Groundswell, and Open Leadership.

June 16 - Open Leadership
Charlene Li, Best-selling and award-winning author of Groundswell, kicks off Buzz2010 with insights from her new book Open Leadership: How Social Technology Can Transform How You Lead. Charlene uncovers the new organizational structure required to accommodate–and benefit from–the culture of sharing that social media has fueled over the last four years. The information flow we all experience daily can no longer be organized into neat org-chart silos, she argues. Instead, it demands a new kind of leadership, one based on letting go of the command-and-control model and embracing openness and relationship building.

The group discussion and dialogue with Charlene will focus the unique challenges open leadership poses for  associations and how to address them head-on. [top]

July 20 - Managing Risk
We’ve assembled a rock star panel of experts to discuss how to successfully manage the most oft-cited risks of social media: opening up your organization’s image to criticism, reduced staff productivity, and legal and compliance issues. The panel includes:

  • Alexandra Levit, nationally syndicated columnist and bestselling author
  • Wendy Harman, social media manager at the American Red Cross
  • Mark Story, adjunct professor of public relations at the University of Maryland, and director of new media at the Securities and Exchange Commission

The group discussion and dialogue with the presenters will zero in on ways to avoid these potential pitfalls in your social media strategy. [top]

August 18 - Social Media ROI
Brand strategist Olivier Blanchard is the go-to source for answers about the value of social media, and just as  importantly, how to measure it. His must-attend Buzz2010 breakfast focuses on understanding how social media strategies apply to a breadth of business objectives. You’ll hear about tracking mechanisms and common mistakes organizations make when attempting to measure the impact or value of their social media efforts.

The group discussion and dialogue with Olivier will drill down and address your specific questions about social media ROI. [top]

Why don’t you have this training on a webinar? Many of us who could benefit can’t really afford to come to Washington, D.C.

Thank you.

Hi Modene - you make a great point. We are planning to record all three live events. When we finalize the recordings and make them available, we’ll announce it on the blog.

It would be easier to train in (from Philiadelphia) for this if it was later in the day.
